Athens Administrators, a recognized leader in third-party claims administration services, has partnered with Gain Life to deliver better claims outcomes through the integration of Gain Life’s SasS-based software, called Jarvis. Gain Life is the only claims automation platform designed by behavioral specialists. This strategic partnership will elevate transparency and support Athens injured workers throughout their claim process.
The integration allows injured workers to easily access their claim information through Gain Life’s platform, and communicate quickly and efficiently with their Claims Examiner, with the goal of improving the claims process. With a growing focus in the workers’ compensation industry to incorporate a biopsychosocial approach to claims handling, this automation combines advocacy and efficiency by connecting injured employees to nurse case managers and claims examiners – all from the injured worker’s mobile phone or computer.
Jarvis allows injured employees to retain more control over the way they send and receive information. Using an easy-to-access, secure website, they can text updates or questions to their Claims Examiner, upload medical reports, set reminders for upcoming appointments, and provide feedback on the claims process by way of periodic surveys. The real-time aspect of the tool allows Athens to stay better informed about the injured employees’ claims experiences and any potential impediments to recovery.
Jarvis’ technology collects deep psychosocial insights at the start of a claim, monitors the health of a claim with periodic automated check-ins, and alerts Athens’ staff when an issue requires their attention. This provides better transparency in the claim process to allow Claims Examiners to provide injured workers the right support at the right time, which in turn keeps injured workers focused on their recovery.
Through Jarvis, Athens Claims Examiners can easily communicate with injured workers in over 100 different languages, serving the needs of non-English speakers with an app, messages, and documents in their preferred language.
Jarvis helps to facilitate medical management by guiding injured workers to appropriate providers per jurisdictional guidelines and gives instant access to pharmacy benefit information. It can also send appointment reminders, and collect patient visit summaries while providing appointment guides to help ensure the best possible medical care.
“We are thrilled to partner with Athens Administrators and share a mutual desire to positively impact the claims process through innovation and technology,” said Gain Life CEO, David Merrill. “The features of Jarvis work together as a virtual claims assistant for all stakeholders in the claim process to improve service, deliver results, and ultimately reduce costs.”
“Athens Administrators is constantly seeking ways to better connect with injured workers in the ever-evolving communication landscape, ” said Emily Hart, Athens Administrators AVP Claim Operations and Compliance. “The Jarvis system allows for the easy sharing of information so that everyone is informed and comfortable with the claims process. The Jarvis workflow is almost infinitely customizable, allowing Athens to get treatment requests and information to examiners and nurse case managers more quickly. This aids in eliminating delays in treatment and helps injured employees get back to work.”
This partnership with Athens Administrators is the latest addition to Gain Life’s growing list of customers. Gain Life builds software to help people and organizations return to health, work, and productivity. Their claims automation platform is utilized by self-insured organizations, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to save claim costs and provide a better claims experience across multiple product lines. Headquartered in Boston, MA, Gain Life was born out of Harvard University’s Innovation Lab.
