In 2018, Athens Administrators implemented a program offering training and mentoring to support our team members’ professional growth. The program, titled Athens Career Development Program or ACDP continued semi-annually over the next few years, and beginning in 2023, the program will be offered on an annual basis.
This program supports our strong retention results as an organization by offering our employees stable career path planning and preparation. Our client partners embrace the development of the employees who support their programs and enjoy the opportunity to see those employees grow in their careers.
Our last program in 2022 included 95 total participants serving in the roles of mentors, mentees, or trainers, and since the inception of the Athens Career Development Program approximately 20-25% of the participants have been promoted into new roles within Athens.
The program is designed to offer a stable career path and promotion opportunities for interested employees. Athens is always willing to invest in our employees, as we understand that our home-grown talent that emulates our company’s core values go on to create the best outcomes for our client partners.
The program is designed for employees who are looking to develop in their current role with a true desire to improve their knowledge, skills, and prepare for their next promotion opportunity.
The curriculum for the program includes weekly training courses, coaching, mentoring, skills development, and career pathing. The program is offered to employees of all levels within the Athens Workers’ Compensation Department. From Assistant Claims Examiners and Future Medical Examiners seeking a Claims Examiner role, to Senior Claims Examiners seeking a Claims Supervisor role, and for Claims Supervisors seeking a Division Manager role, the program offers a career path for everyone.
The program curriculum has two components: a six-month training period that runs in tandem with a six month mentorship program. The 1-to-1.5-hour training blocks are offered once a week and focus on technical training, which includes both hard and soft skills. The mentorship portion occurs twice a month with 30-minute check-ins to discuss the progress through the training, insights on learning, and challenges for further development established by the mentors.
We look forward to the launch of the 2023 Athens Career Development Program and the future examiner and leadership promotions it will ultimately allow for our dedicated team members.
